Rodney & Jodi Gehman
Owners
After working together as professional photographers in the wedding industry for 13 years, we had tossed around ideas of other ways we could all be involved as a family in something local. That dream started to find it's fruition in a very different way than we expected when we helped plant (start) a local church. Rodney is the Lead Pastor now at River City Church in Riverside Iowa, and the other 5 of us are very involved in one way or another. The mission that we've wrapped ourselves around is in working for the good of our city, both in terms of spiritual health and community health. So we started looking for ways to make the city a better place.
In the Fall of 2022, the opportunity arose to purchase a small commercial building in downtown Riverside. We walked through it, dreamed about what it could be, and asked the Lord for direction. Our offer was accepted, and thus began the journey of working for the good of our city in commercial real estate!
Back in the 1970s, a black and blue freight train used to go through Riverside from Muscatine to Montezuma, and on the side of the engine was written the numbers J 33-3, after Jeremiah 33:3 from the Bible, which says: "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know." Our name, J33 Investments, builds on that foundation. We believe that what we’re doing to renovate these city spaces and restore them to their original design is simply a real life illustration of the renovation and restoration that a relationship with Jesus brings to an individual who repents and believes the good news! No matter how bad of shape your life is in, the grace of Jesus is more than enough to purchase you out of darkness, to give you life, and to restore you to His good purposes for your life!
While owning real estate was never something we sought out, we are excited to see how our investments of sweat, finances, and time into the people and the places of Riverside, IA begin to facilitate thriving and abundance of life in and for the city!
